The SFEC team cherishes every patient and aims to communicate clearly. We value education, efficiency, and accuracy in all aspects of care.
Our Story
Socorro Family Eye Care started as a dream of returning home and serving the Socorro community and surrounding areas. In 2017, after moving back to Socorro from Houston, Dr. Laura County and her husband, Erik, began to make that dream a reality. In the summer of 2018, the doors to Socorro Family Eye Care opened, and the rest is history. We are proud to care for the eyes of Socorro!
Our Doctor
Dr. Laura County
Optometric Physician
Dr. County, a native of Socorro, completed her high school education at Socorro High School. She achieved Highest Honors upon graduating from New Mexico Tech, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Her academic career continued as she earned her Doctor of Optometry, Summa Cum Laude, from the University of Houston College of Optometry. Following her education, Dr. County practiced in the Houston area for several years before returning to Socorro with her husband, Erik, and their two kids. Together, they established their own practice to cater to the eye care needs of Socorro and the surrounding communities.
In 2026, Dr. County was nominated to serve on the New Mexico Optometric Association's Board of Trustees as the Southwest Region Trustee. She is honored to be serving optometry in New Mexico and advocating to expand scope of practice.
Beyond her professional commitments, Dr. County enjoys spending quality time outdoors with her husband, two children, and their dog. She actively contributes to her community by serving on the local AYSO Executive Board and participating in her church.
